{"id":13137,"date":"2022-02-22T16:25:12","date_gmt":"2022-02-22T14:25:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medri.uniri.hr\/?page_id=13137"},"modified":"2023-02-06T17:14:31","modified_gmt":"2023-02-06T15:14:31","slug":"molecular-pathology-and-molecular-diagnostics-laboratory","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/medri.uniri.hr\/en\/professional-activity\/molecular-pathology-and-molecular-diagnostics-laboratory\/","title":{"rendered":"Molecular Pathology and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Molecular Pathology and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory performs the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>analysis of changes in tumour tissue based on changes in the structure of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA)<\/li><li>mutations and deletions in the gene structure, gene amplifications, chromosome translocations and inversions<\/li><li>quantitative analysis of tumour clones to monitor treatment effectiveness<\/li><li>detecting viruses in inflammatory processes and carcinogenesis.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Materials for analysis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>tissue specimens (fresh, paraffin-embedded, from cytology slides)<\/li><li>samples of peripheral blood, plasma, serum<\/li><li>urine<\/li><li>cerebrospinal fluid<\/li><li>urogenital smears.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Service users:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Laboratory provides services to healthcare institutions in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and polyclinics and doctor&#8217;s offices in the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quality control and cooperation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Laboratory participates in quality controls organised by the German and Austrian Society of Pathology and professional institutions for control implementation (EMQN \u2013 European Molecular Genetics Quality Network).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the Laboratory collaborates with the following reputable laboratories for molecular diagnostics in the region:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Institute of Hygiene, Microbiology and Environmental Medicine, Medical University Graz, Austria (Prof. Harald H.
