The Regional Training Course on Justification and Optimization in Computed Tomography in the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka will place from 3 to 7 April 2023 at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka.

The purpose of this course is to train the participants on strategies and practical approaches for the justification and optimisation of radiation protection in computed tomography.

Organisers:

The training course will be held by lecturers from our Faculty, but also by Professor Mannudeep Kalra from Harvard University, Boston, USA, who is also a radiologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Professor Kalra is the author of more than 300 scientific papers on the application of ionising radiation in diagnostic radiology and the optimisation of computed tomography procedures and is one of the world’s leading experts in this field.

The IAEA selected 31 participants from 19 European countries, five of which are from Croatia. The course will be held in English and is primarily intended for clinical radiologists and medical radiation technologists who are involved in the implementation of computed tomography procedures on a daily basis.

The course programme includes presentations by experts, discussions and a demonstration in a clinical environment, so its practical part will be held via video streaming from the control console of the CT scan of the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka.
