The university specialist study of Ultrasound in Gynecology and Obstetrics is designed to train gynecology and obstetrics residents and specialists to use different ultrasound techniques efficiently. This specialised programme aims to foster the rapid acquisition, integration and application of clinical knowledge in the clinical practice of diagnostic ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology. This programme offers extensive experience in the ultrasound assessment of high-risk obstetric and gynecologic patients, as well as formal training and mentorship in clinical and translational research. Lectures, seminars, and practicals provide valuable information and evidence-based knowledge.
This study will be conducted exclusively in English by internationally recognised experts. Not many programmes of the such profile are available on the market. Many specialists are interested in attending this kind of postgraduate education, especially in Arab and Southeastern European countries. Ultrasound training is not part of specialist training in obstetrics and gynecology in those countries, which is why knowledge and skills in ultrasound are rather sparse. Furthermore, the existing postgraduate training programmes in Croatia offer only basic ultrasound knowledge in the Croatian language. Therefore, there is a need for such a specialised postgraduate programme in order to improve women’s and children’s healthcare. It will enable clinicians to rely on their own findings and interpretations, which were until recently performed by radiologists who lack clinical knowledge on this subject.
There is a basic postgraduate specialist programme on Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology conducted in the Croatian language at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb, which can be considered part of this programme that offers far more extensive knowledge in different aspects of ultrasound training. This programme is conducted in both English and Croatian and is intended for participants proficient in English.
