Mission

The mission of the Faculty of Medicine as a public teaching and scientific institution is to educate students of medicine, sanitary engineering, medical laboratory diagnostics, pharmacy, as well as other cadres in the field of biomedicine and health and other interdisciplinary areas to acquire knowledge and skills necessary for the prevention of diseases, preservation and improvement of health, patient treatment and rehabilitation and sustainable development of the society. The basis for further development is the Faculty’s permanent commitment to investing in the quality of the education process, scientific, research and professional work in biomedicine and health and in interdisciplinary scientific fields. The close connection of its core activities will contribute to the integration of scientific and professional results and findings into the education process, resulting in the better, faster, comprehensive and sustainable development of the society in which we live. To achieve the objectives set, the Faculty will actively work on cooperation with the leading national and international healthcare, educational and scientific institutions to enable professional prosperity to its students, teachers and staff, thus contributing to the development of the Faculty, University and the society in which we live.

Vision

The vision of the Faculty of Medicine is to position itself nationally and internationally as a leading, recognizable and competitive higher education, scientific and professional institution that is closely connected with and adjusted to the needs of the local and broader community. In terms of education, the Faculty is continuously developing as a higher education institution recognizable primarily for the education of cadres with high moral values and skills and knowledge based on learning outcomes. In terms of science and research, the Faculty is continuously maintaining its position as a recognizable scientific centre for biomedical and interdisciplinary research, which is coordinated with the European concept of “smart specialization” and oriented toward applied and applicable science, especially in the field of translational research, with the aim of introducing modern scientific findings into everyday practice.
