Modern and Practical Medical Education

In recent years, medical educators and other healthcare professionals have been confronting a complete paradigm shift in teaching and learning at the national and international levels. The rapid progress of new teaching and learning strategies, such as the introduction of student-centred learning, e-learning, interprofessional education and clinical simulation, imposes the need for concurrent curricular changes and reskilling educators. The special nature of medical and healthcare-related education requires the implementation of a distinct curriculum for educating educators for this multidimensional, demanding, and, above all, noble mission. Additionally, new circumstances emphasize the importance of establishing special faculty development units to support the professional and academic growth and development of medical educators.

Modern and practical medical education is a unique and innovative four-month lifelong learning programme comprising a constructive support system for educators to master the structural framework and apply rules of good medical education practice so they can achieve the highest level of creative freedom in their teaching. Modern and practical medical education is designed as a breakthrough and a new support system for medical educators in improving the quality of their entire teaching process. The programme is aimed at and encompasses all participants and aspects of the teaching process in medical education and represents more than a course for improving teaching competencies.
