Enrolment in doctoral studies

The Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka conducts five doctoral studies as part of the Doctoral School of Biomedicine and Health:

  • Biomedicine 
  • Clinical Medicine
  • Dental Medicine
  • Public Health
  • Health and Environmental Engineering.

The total enrolment quota for all five study programmes is 60 participants.

Enrolment of candidates is aligned with the scientific research capacity of the Faculty of Medicine and its teaching hospitals. It is conducted through the following selection procedure:

  1. Call for mentors to assess mentoring capacity 
  2. Evaluation of the mentor and determining the mentoring capacity 
  3. Registration of general topics
  4. Evaluation of general topics 
  5. List of general topics/mentors
  6. Call for applications for enrolment in the Doctoral School based on the list of general topics/mentors
  7. Application of candidates for a maximum of three topics based on the list of general topics/mentors
  8. Potential mentors interviewing candidates
  9. Mentors make their rank list of candidates by topics
  10.  Final list of candidates for enrolment 
  11.  Appeals
  12.  Enrolment of candidates 

Call for applications for enrolment in doctoral studies as part of Doctoral School is announced by the Faculty Council at the proposal of the Doctoral School Council.

The candidate must fill out and submit the following documents for applying to the call for applications:

  1. filled out and signed application form 
  2. Europass CV with a list of scientific publications and activities with corresponding evidence of previous research activity
  3. certified copy of the diploma of completed study / decision of the University of Rijeka on recognition of applicant’s foreign education qualification
  4. average grade certificate 
  5. two letters of recommendations
  6. evidence of English language proficiency
  7. institution’s certificate or applicant’s written statement about the tuition fee payment
  8. citizenship certificate.

The enrolment of candidates in study programmes of the Doctoral School in the academic year 2024/2025 is carried out according to the following schedule:
