Service description
The Stool Biobank of the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka represents the first and only collection of human feces in the Republic of Croatia. It has an established system of healthy voluntary donors, including students of the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka, and it represents one of the basic prerequisites for the implementation of quality translational research. The Biobank provides an affordable and economical option for patients who need fecal microbiota transplantation, considering the costs associated with donor screening, laboratory stool analysis and storage.
The Biobank enables a continuous and uninterrupted supply of stool material. All information regarding the voluntary stool donor is anonymous, respecting all ethical principles. The users are all Croatian hospitals because using dry ice, stool samples can be sent all over the country, wherever the transplantation is performed.
