The university specialist study of Pulmonology is a mandatory part of the specialisation training in pulmonology, which enables participants to acquire organised and systematised knowledge and skills based on modern scientific knowledge. In the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka, which is the teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka, residents are trained for the needs of the CHC Rijeka, as well as other state and private health institutions in the entire Republic of Croatia. The Ordinance on Specialist Training for Doctors of Medicine stipulates that part of teaching for the specialisation programme must take place at the health faculties for no more than 10% of the total duration of the specialisation. This university specialist study is a mandatory part of the specialisation training programme in pulmonology stipulated by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia. It allows participants access to the specialist exam in pulmonology. After passing the final specialist exam, participants are awarded the title of pulmonology specialist, which enables them employment throughout Croatia. This study programme was prepared to enable national and international student mobility, considering the existence of similar study programmes in neighbouring countries and EU countries. This particularly applies to elective courses. Students from other faculties of the University of Rijeka or foreign institutions can attend certain courses from our study and vice versa.
