The Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka conducts full-time University undergraduate study of Environmental and Public Health lasting 4 semesters and worth 120 ECTS credits. The aim of this study programme is to educate professionals and researchers to preserve and improve the health of individuals, families and societies and to prevent disease by applying measures for maintaining hygienic, sanitary and epidemiologic levels in the person’s working and living environment. Working with other health professionals, these experts are educated to identify, define and remediate environmental factors that may adversely affect the health of the individual and the wider community and to implement health education of the population to improve the general population’s health.
The following candidates have the right to enrol: candidates who have achieved at least 180 ECTS credits at the equivalent University/professional undergraduate study of Environmental and Public Health (university or professional bachelors of environmental and public health), candidates who have completed one of the undergraduate professional studies of environmental and public health, and whose programme does not differ by more than 30% from the programme of the University undergraduate study of Environmental and Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka, and candidates from the university undergraduate non-equivalent studies at the Faculty of Food Biotechnology, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Food Technology, and will be required to enrol in the Lifelong Learning Programme.
Upon completion of the University graduate study of Environmental and Public Health, the student is awarded the academic title of Master of Environmental and Public Health (mag. sanit. ing. / M.Sc.EPH).
After completing the study, the student acquires 120 ECTS credits and can enrol in the Doctoral study of Health and Environmental Engineering and other related doctoral studies.
