The dean manages the Faculty, represents it and is its chief and head. The dean organises the Faculty’s business and operations, convenes and chairs the Faculty Council’s sessions, establishes working groups and temporary committees, approves teachers’ engagements outside the Faculty, decides on the financial plan and statement of accounts, participates in the work of university bodies in accordance with the law and the University Statute and performs all tasks for which he is authorised under regulations, the Statute and other core documents of the Faculty. The dean is elected by the Faculty Council for a three-year term of office. The same person may be elected dean no more than twice in a row. The Dean’s Collegium is an advisory body composed of vice deans, the dean and the secretary of the Faculty. The Dean’s Collegium is also attended by a student representative and a representative of the largest teaching hospital (CHC Rijeka).
Acting Vice Deans
A teacher with a academic rank: A teacher holding an academic rank may be elected vice dean. The vice dean’s term of office lasts three years. The vice dean’s term of office is not limited to two consecutive terms, as in the election of the dean, but the same person can be re-elected. Vice deans are appointed by the Faculty Council on the proposal of the dean. Each vice dean is in charge of their scope of work. The dean gives authority to one of the vice deans (deputy) to replace him in absentia.
