The worldwide known campaign Brain Awareness Week is being organised in Croatia for the 22nd year in a row in March. In recent years, Brain Awareness Week in the EU has been coordinated by the umbrella association FENS (Federation of European Neuroscience Societies) http://www.fens.org/. The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka, the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka and many associations, schools and other public institutions from Rijeka participate in the organisation and implementation of the Brain Awareness Week every year.
This year, we are organizing the 22nd Brain Awareness Week in Rijeka, which will take place from 13 to 19 March 2023.
Throughout the years, the goal was to inform the public on the importance of brain research in the 21st century (the Century of the Mind). The emphasis is on the interdisciplinary and integrated approach to selected topics that we believe are interesting for the general public.
This year’s national topics of the Brain Awareness Week are:
- brain development after birth
- levels and states of consciousness
- interaction of the nervous and digestive systems.
The national topics of the Brain Awareness Week do not limit participants in organising activities that are not strictly related to the topics offered but are of interest to the general public.
We kindly ask you to mark the Brain Awareness Week in accordance with your interest by:
- organising activities (workshops, lectures, panel discussions, exhibitions, etc.) that are connected to the field of neuroscience and related fields
- organising independent public appearances
- donating promotional products that will be distributed to elementary and high school students
- visiting and participating in the activities prepared.
