Winners of Medical Education Innovation Awards

Assistant Professor Jelena Rajič Bumber, MD, PhD, received the Medical Education Innovation Award in the Teaching Associate category for her innovation Reforming Pharmacology Seminar through a Digitally Supported Flipped Classroom Model (category: Digital Innovation).

Professor Kristina Pilipović, MD, PhD, received the Medical Education Innovation Award in the Faculty Member category for her innovation Simulation of Clinical Patient Examination in the Course “Pain – Causes, Diagnosis and Treatment”: Applying Theoretical Knowledge of the Causes, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Pain in a Controlled Learning Environment (category: Pedagogical Innovation).

The Medical Education Innovation Award recognises, promotes, and encourages the development of innovative and evidence-based approaches to higher education in the health professions. The award aims to support the continuous improvement of teaching quality and the student learning experience, while fostering a culture of investment in the professional development of academic staff at the University of Rijeka Faculty of Medicine.

The awards will be presented during the Fourth Ceremonial Promotion of Modern Medical Educators, to be held on 3 July 2026 at 12:00 noon at the University of Rijeka Rectorate.

We congratulate the award recipients on their outstanding contribution to the advancement of contemporary approaches to learning, teaching, and assessment, and to the enhancement of the student experience.
