Learning outcomes

LO1 Recognise and apply knowledge of basic natural and medical sciences to the extent that enables a scientific approach to problem-solving in the field of environmental and public health.
LO2 Identify and apply appropriate procedures necessary to investigate risk factors to human health by applying acquired knowledge of chemistry.
LO3 Appraise accuracy and precision and correctly interpret experimentally obtained physical and chemical data.
LO4 Apply the principles of thermodynamics, electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, and spectroscopy in selecting appropriate physicochemical methods and interpreting results in the context of environmental monitoring.
LO5 Apply the acquired knowledge of the structure and function of the human body in disease prevention and health promotion.
LO6 Correlate the structure of biologically important molecules with chemical reactions and changes in metabolic processes, and describe individual food ingredients based on their intake, absorption, and significance for human health.
LO7 Describe, explain, and analyse the effects of environmental factors on the physiological function of a particular organic system to preserve health.
LO8 Organise and implement health and sanitary supervision applying of ethical, legislative, and business guidelines and principles.
LO9 Explain and apply regulations and professional guidelines in the field of environmental and public health.
LO10 Define pathogens, explain and connect their sources with routes of transmission, describe the course of the disease, select appropriate identification methods, and select and apply appropriate control measures.
LO11 Collect and analyse the environmental monitoring results, and determine and implement appropriate measures for disease prevention and health improvement.
LO12 Apply basic knowledge of food processing procedures, food quality assessment, and food safety to prevent foodborne diseases.
LO13 Distinguish and explain the types of organism’s responses to toxic stimuli (direct toxic action – tissue damage; biochemical damage; pharmacological or physiological effects).
LO14 Implement health care at an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary level, design and implement public health projects and campaigns.
LO15 Apply the theoretical knowledge of molecular technologies in medicine, biotechnology, and environmental and public health.
LO16 Organise and monitor the implementation of appropriate epidemiological measures to prevent and control communicable and non-communicable diseases.
LO17 Apply knowledge of the biology of insects and rodents in their control in accordance with the legislation, and assess the justification and safety of the use of chemical agents for their control.
LO18 Use information technology and databases, and select and apply appropriate statistical methods to upgrade relevant knowledge and skills.
